2010 Call for Papers (as sent to LUGs)
We are looking for presentations aimed at beginners, presentations aimed at the experts, and everything in between. The theme this year is Saving the World with FOSS. We're also introducing a track on the use of FOSS in medicine. If you have anyone in your group who is using FOSS in medicine, we'd love to hear about it.
Another topic area we have discussed is the use of BSD, another important example FOSS. We have done introductions to BSD before, but maybe you or one of your members can do a presentation about how you use BSD in your work, and the factors that made it the right choice. And some other things to consider would include Android, Ruby on Rails, and Chromium, to mention just a few.
But those are just a few possible ideas. The OLF community thrives on a wide variety of topics. Here are some of the topics we have presented at past OLFs:

The community wants talks from and for programmers, users, sysadmins, network gurus, security folks, and hobbyists. We need hard technical talks and talks about using FOSS in the community and the home.
But it starts with you. We need your help to put this information before the members of your LUG, to spread the word, and help us find the gems that are waiting for us in your group. So please distribute this information to your group, through your e-mail list, by announcing it at your meetings, by placing this on your Web site, or any other way you can think of.
OLF is a really great conference, but what makes it great is the contributions from all sorts of FOSS users. Which is kind of like FOSS itself, if you think about it. If you have an idea for a presentation, please let us know at http://www.ohiolinux.org/cfp10.html
The Ohio LinuxFest is an annual conference dedicated to Free & Open Source Software. Set in Columbus Ohio each Fall, OLF attracted 1300 attendees last year.
